University of Minnesota Extension’s Community Opioid Prevention and Education (C.O.P.E.) project bridges Extension’s resources and research with stakeholders and community leaders in rural counties and American Indian communities to support opioid use prevention and recovery. The project team has taken a variety of new approaches to engage with communities across rural Minnesota.
Unique C.O.P.E. Project initiatives:
- Changemakers: The Changemaker Retreats provided community leaders with the inspiration and support to develop their ideas to support opioid recovery.
- American Indian Resource and Resilience Team (AIRRT): The AIRRT partners with Indigenous communities in Minnesota to respond to opioid prevention and recovery needs in a culturally-specific manner.
The project in Minnesota is led by Mary Jo Katras. Please visit the University of Minnesota Community-Based Opioid Prevention and Education (C.O.P.E.) to learn more.
