Wisconsin
This is the second ROTA grant project for Wisconsin; previously, under the Wisconsin Rural Opioid and Stimulant Engagement (WiROSE) project, University of Wisconsin – Madison, Division of Extension, engaged in activities to provide training and technical assistance in order to;
- Work with local health coalitions to identify needs, community priorities and the interventions needed to address opioid and stimulant prevention, treatment and recovery in their community.
- Provide Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid training to better equip community members to help those who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use disorder.
- Teach adults and youth coping skills to combat stress with evidence-based mindfulness and positive emotion interventions programs
- Work with northeastern Wisconsin coalitions and tribes to develop a social marketing campaign addressing stigma.
Some of the activities of the WiROSE project have been incorporated into core behavioral health programming, through the Institute of Health & Well-Being. Check out the institute’s webpage to learn more about UW Madison Extension’s Behavioral Health community programs of focus.
